The Mission

March 6, 2008

We’ve just got back from another outstanding weekend in Napier, in the Hawkes Bay in New Zealand, attending the Mission Concert.

Held each year at the Mission Vineyard, the concert has attracted some truly awesome performers over the years – Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, John Farnham, and this weekend we had “When the Cat’s Away” (3 great Kiwi ladies), “Jimmy Barnes” and “Tom Jones”.

It was absolutely outstanding. When the Cat’s Away really set the tone for the night. A great line up of old favourites that had everyone singing and dancing. then Jimmy Barnes -

again, one hit after another. He too was simply outstanding!  And finally, the one and only Tom Jones -

He is the absolute professional! Great line up of hits – one after another! Every song he sang you had heard and knew most of the words to! He had all the moves, the underwear was flying, and for a guy 60+ years old, he was simply amazing!

What Tom Jones showed was just how timeless true talent and professionalism are. It doesn’t matter what field or industry you are in, the harder you work, the better you are, the more successful you will be. He was truly exceptional, you could see the years and years of devotion and dedication to his craft.

All in all, a great weekend – great entertainment, great company and a whole lot of laughs!

Back on the Case!

March 3, 2008

Well, firstly my apologies. When you decide to start a Blog, you must commit to regularly adding comments. Having only done one since Christmas, I have clearly ‘dropped the ball’, however, I’m back!

The interesting thing is that while it is hard to think of new topics and then write about them, it is just about personal discipline and following through on a commitment. No excuses!

I am a great believer that ‘If it’s to be, it’s up to me” and the key to any form of success both personally or professionally, is all about taking personal responsibility. No one else is responsible for my place in the world, it is entirely up to me.

Put two people in the same situation, and you will invariably get two different reactions, so it’s not the environment or situation we’re in, it’s how we choose to respond. And it is a choice we make – we determine how we react, so we determine the outcome – good or bad – not the situation.

Well, there you go, I’ve given myself an upper cut. look forward to lots more comment on a wide range of topics, events and happenings. And please, comment – especially you Claude, always considered and timely – unlike this writer who’s timing can be absolutely appalling!
